My name is Jeff Blum. I am a management researcher and consultant and a former Telecom(s) executive. I also
run several websites. During the creation and maintenance of one of those,
MBA Depot I saw an opportunity to re-use some of the
development code to launch a mini portal focused on any industry. Since my industry of expertise and primary
focus is Telecommunications, I developed the first one for that industry. This site is the result.
Why bother you may ask. Well, there are two primary motivations.
- Some of you may recall there was an excellent portal site called CLEC.com
(the domain was bought and re-launched as some sort of association propaganda site).
Since that site died I haven't really found a good alternative (please let me know
if there are any).
- Like many of you, I read certain industry trade magazines. I found that I have this
habit of regularly clipping the articles I find most useful. I even went so far as to organize
them all by subject in a 3-ring binder. Well, I thought, since most of those articles are available
online, why not replace the binder with a website? This idea has an additional benefit - namely the
ability to find good articles by speciality area (subject). In fact, I challenge you to visit any
of the trade magazine sites and try to find all their articles focused on PON, or DSL for example.
They just plain don't organize their content that way. Thus, this site offers an excellent starting point
for anyone trying to do industry research or catch up on an area they don't know much about.
So, that's my story. This site isn't perfect and isn't intended to be. But, hopefully it will be of value
to others like me who have a passion for this exciting (and sometimes frustrating) industry.
